It is said that when you pursue your life passion, it will never feel like work, and I believe that I am pursuing my life passion through my work with clients. Growing up in Harlem, NYC afforded me with the opportunity to see life in a way that deepens my understanding of culture, privilege, oppression and environmental barriers and how these factors uniquely shape all of us. My approach to therapy involves meeting you where you are, creating a safe space for you, and challenging you in a supportive way to make the desired changes in yourself. Growth is naturally uncomfortable; however, I believe that once you clarify your values, needs and goals, you are quite capable of this personal growth. I use a reality-based approach based on the following modalities: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused within the context of personal warmth, empathy and humanistic principles. I work with people ages 14 and up. My areas of particular interest are depression and mood disorders, anxiety, anger and impulse control, parenting and school stress, relationship issues, women’s issues and grief.
